New..York, New…Yooooork!!

This cheesecake journey never ceases to amaze me. I never thought I will find yet another kind of cheesecake that is so perfectly creamy, no one will suspect it was even baked!

They said this is the authentic New York cheesecake. I guess this is the famous soft creamy cheesecake Rachel and Chandler fought upon. One thing’s for sure, though: Don’t talk about cheesecake if you haven’t tasted New York’s cheesecake!!

Local Beries!!

Now available in this retarded country!!
I was doing quick shopping today, just to buy some strawberries for my Strawberry Cheesecake, when I saw these plastic boxes of blackberries and raspberries, just next to the strawberries. The label said “Local Raspberry” and “Local Blackberry“.

What???

The price tag is 15 and 19 thousand Rupiahs. This is so cool!
I mean, I’ve been wanting to use blackberries and raspberries in my recipes, but their rarity and prices got in my way. Hmm… now I know what I’m gonna post for SHF #9 :)

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Update 10/8/06: Recipe in English is now available

Ever since I watched When A Man Loves A Woman years ago, I’ve been craving for a really good Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting. I’ve tried some of them, but all tasted either blah or yuck, other times it was what the hell I’m putting in my mouth.

But this Carrot Cake, I LIKE! It’s not good, it is gooooooood. Moist, sweet and cinnamony. The frosting is even better. Easy to mix up and oh-my-God good! Totally my choice for comfort food.

My fairy tale has finally come true :)

Oranges Inside :)

You just can’t compete with chocolate, the food of Gods. Imagine when it combines with custard. That’s how Gateau Africain was created by the Europeans.
But there is one thing that ultimately brings it to perfection: Oranges!

Yep. Mandarin Oranges come as a delightful touch to the custard that binds the chocolate cake layers together. It’s the “it” factor that distinguishes between the ordinary and extraordinary Gateau Africain. Between the plain look and the fun bright pretty presentation boasted by the renowned orange color. It’s Oranges inside!

Whoopie Pies!

I made this the first time when I was 11 years old, the recipe referred it as “Othello”. About two weeks ago I saw it on Oprah, turned out the name is Whoopie Pies :)

It’s chocolate cake sandwich with buttercream and custard filling, coated with melted chocolate. So simple, so tempting. Make it in bite-size to minimize the guilty feeling :)
